Team Sturmay Wins 2025 Pre-Trials Opener

Team Sturmay, led by skip Selena Sturmay, opened their 2025 Home Hardware Canadian Curling Pre-Trials campaign with a 7-3 victory over Team Scharf.

The event, hosted at Acadia University's Andrew H. McCain Arena in Wolfville, N.S., brings together top teams competing for a spot in the 2025 Montana's Canadian Curling Trials.

It’s a long trip from Alberta to Wolfville, N.S., but it’s one that Edmonton’s Team Selena Sturmay was happy to make.

As the 11th CTRS-ranked team, Sturmay's squad, including vice-skip Danielle Schmiemann, second Deseray Hawes, lead Paige Papley, and coach Ted Appleman, are among the top contenders for the event's top prize.

The team is under pressure to perform, with Olympic dreams hanging in the balance.

Author's summary: Team Sturmay starts strong.
