Utah State Senator Resigns Ahead of Legislative Session
Utah State Senator Daniel Thatcher announced his resignation from the state legislator before the next general legislative session.
Thatcher promised an "open and honest" replacement process. He left the Republican Party seven months ago to join the Utah chapter of the Forward Party, founded by Andrew Yang.
Thatcher cited frustrations with the disconnect between the public and legislators as his reason for leaving.
Thatcher represented District 11 in the Utah State Senate, covering Tooele and parts of Salt Lake County. He won reelection unopposed in 2022.
