As a student at El Camino College, I believe that the cost of textbooks should be factored into the cost of a class.
With rising tuition and education costs, many colleges have not taken sufficient measures to alleviate student expenditures. The cost of class materials is often an additional financial burden, pushing students to spend more on required reading.
This semester, I enrolled in three classes, each costing $46 per unit for California residents, plus additional required fees. While this is more affordable than private colleges, there is room for improvement in terms of transparency regarding where students' money is being spent.
Several colleges have not taken the measures necessary to alleviate student expenditures.
